Interviews & InsightsWe began the project by conducting a series of interviews. We conducted 33 interviews with a variety of users (from 10 countries) who represent different roles and different functional areas within the organization.
The major findings from the interviews were summarized into key pain points, opportunities for design, and were supported by user quotes. These findings served as the basis for the backlog as well as the inspiration for the design concepts. We used mind-maps to organize the findings into themes and generate feature and design ideas. |
Personas & User JourneysPersonas allow designers to focus on a manageable and memorable cast of characters rather than focusing on hundreds of individuals. They are a synthesis of many people, who share common goals, needs and motivations.
The data from the interviews was used to generate 6 personas and create user journeys that showcase the desired experience for each persona. These user journeys served as the basis for how the users interact with the system to achieve their goals. |
Design & Testing Design concepts were created and tested with users in moderate remote usability sessions.
Feedback was gathered through click testing, verbal feedback and survey questions. The purpose of the research was to validate and enhance the proposed designs. Iterations were then made based on results from the testing. The final deliverable included a summary of research, wireframes, design comps, and a backlog of features. |

DiscoveryWe began the project by conducting a series of interviews with key business stakeholders to understand the vision and the goals of the new system. We then proceeded to conduct interviews and contextual inquiry sessions with end users in order to understand their existing processes and the tools being used.
With the data we gathered, we created scenarios to document their processes, identified pain points and brainstormed design opportunities. We also created design mantras to help guide the team and the organization through design decisions. These findings served as the basis for the design concepts and backlog. |
Design & TestingFor the design phase, we approached the system one module at a time and one scenario at a time. We kept users engaged throughout the design process through concept testing, usability testing and frequent feedback sessions.
We worked closely with subject matter experts, business analysts, product owners and developers to create the UX architecture, backlog and user stories, wireframes and design concepts that were used for implementation. We also created a UX Brief and Style Guide to guide the development team. |
